With a significant move aimed for reviving its fortunes among the Indian market, Nissan Motor India has announced a leadership reshuffle that aims a noticeable dip in the sales. The company has appointed Saurabh Vatsa to take over the commercial operations which will start from August 1, 2025, which will become a part of broader strategy that will re-energize its presence in one of the world’s most competitive and automotive landscapes.

He have played a vital role in Nissan India’s turnaround since 2022, now steps down due to some personal reasons. Torres will continue to support with the leadership handover until the end of August, ensuring with a smooth transition. Vatsa is now current Managing Director, will now report directly to Leon Dorssers, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for the AMIEO region (Africa, Middle East, India, Europe, and Oceania).
The timing of this leadership towards change
Nissan’s domestic sales in India have now dropped by 7.5% in FY2025, with 27,881 units dispatched as compared to the 30,146 units of the previous year. This decline stands with the contrast to the broader Indian passenger vehicle market, which can be grew by 2% during the same period.

The company has dismissed through rumors of an exit and instead of reaffirmed its long-term plans, it includes the launch of three new models between 2026 and 2027. These upcoming vehicles are expected to diversify Nissan’s limited portfolio, which is currently locally manufactured by Magnite and is imported by X-Trail SUV.
