Midnight Chaos at Vidhan Bhavan: NCP(SP) MLA Jitendra Awhad Dragged by Police During Protest

In a dramatic turn of events at Maharashtra’s Vidhan Bhavan, police forcibly removed NCP (Sharad Pawar) MLA Jitendra Awhad during a late-night protest. He had staged the protest against the detention of his supporter, Nitin Deshmukh. The incident took place around 2 a.m. on July 18, 2025, and quickly sparked widespread debate. The protest began after a violent clash

This have broke out between the supporters of Awhad and BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar entered the legislative building, where a scuffle broke out. Reports say Padalkar’s aides assaulted Nitin Deshmukh during the fight. However, instead of detaining the attackers the police moved to arrest Deshmukh, prompting Awhad to stage a sit-in near the rear gate of Vidhan Bhavan.

While accusing the law enforcement of biased action.Awhad said, “The police arrested my supporter even though he was beaten. Meanwhile, they treated Padalkar’s men like guests and even served them snacks and tobacco.”

Police used force to drag Awhad away from the vehicle

Additional personnel were deployed to manage the crowd, and in a surprising twist, Officers allegedly tried to shift Deshmukh to a different vehicle to avoid further confrontation. However, Awhad noticed the move and immediately confronted them again.

The clash between the two political groups

The incident reportedly began with a verbal spat outside the assembly building a day earlier. Since then, videos have gone viral on social media, showing supporters from both sides exchanging blows while security staff restrained them.

BJP MLA Padalkar responded by calling Awhad’s actions “goondaism”

He have stated that his supporters had made a big mistake. He claimed to have apologized to the assembly speaker and said an FIR had been filed against those who were involved.

Other political leaders

NCP(SP) MLA Rohit Pawar and others at the scene voiced concern over the incident’s handling. The Speaker ordered a detailed report and assured strict action against those involved.
