Medha Roopam Appointed New DM of Gautam Buddha Nagar: Know Her Journey, Experience, and Background

The Uttar Pradesh government has appointed IAS officer Medha Roopam as the new District Magistrate (DM) of Gautam Buddha Nagar, commonly known as Noida. She replaces Manish Kumar Verma, who has now moved to Prayagraj as the new DM. This transfer is part of a major reshuffle involving 23 IAS officers across the state. Among these, 10 districts have received new DMs.

A Trusted Officer of CM Yogi Adityanath

CM Yogi Adityanath relies on Medha Roopam for handling important administrative responsibilities. She belongs to the 2014 batch of IAS officers and has earned a name for her dedication and efficiency. Most importantly, she already has experience in this region. She previously worked as the Additional CEO of the Greater Noida Authority. Now, with her return, she is expected to make quick and smart decisions for Noida’s development.

Medha Roopam has a rich and impressive background in administration. Here are some highlights:

  • Started her career as Assistant Magistrate in Bareilly.
  • Worked as Joint Magistrate in Meerut and Unnao.
  • Served as Special Secretary in the Women Welfare Department.
  • Held the position of Chief Development Officer in Barabanki.
  • Became District Magistrate of Hapur, and later served as Additional CEO of Greater Noida.
  • In 2023, she was appointed DM of Kasganj, and now she takes charge of Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida).

During her time in Greater Noida, she handled important projects like Jewar Airport and the International Film City, which are key priorities of the Uttar Pradesh government.

Personal Life and Education

Medha Roopam comes from a family with a strong administrative background. Her father, Gyanesh Kumar Gupta, is currently serving as the Chief Election Commissioner of India. Inspired by him, she chose to prepare for the UPSC exam and became an IAS officer.

Interestingly, before entering civil services, Medha was a national-level shooter. She won three gold medals in the Kerala State Shooting Championship and even broke a state record in the 10-meter air rifle category.

She met her husband, IAS officer Manish Bansal, during their training in Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie. Manish is also a 2014 batch IAS officer and currently working in the Uttar Pradesh cadre. The couple has two children.

Why Her Appointment Matters for Noida

As the DM of Gautam Buddha Nagar, Medha Roopam will now oversee one of the most important districts in Uttar Pradesh. Noida is a major hub for:

  • Real estate and infrastructure

  • Manish Kumar Verma (from Noida to Prayagraj)
  • Deepak Meena (from Ghaziabad to Gorakhpur)
  • Ravindra Kumar Mandar (from Prayagraj to Ghaziabad)
  • Krishna Karunesh (from Gorakhpur to Noida Authority)

Others were also reshuffled in districts like Ayodhya, Mirzapur, Gonda, Kanpur Dehat, and Lalitpur.
