Aasif Khan Clears the Air: Acid Reflux, Not Heart Attack Behind Hospital Scare

Actor Aasif Khan, known for his roles in Panchayat and Paatal Lok, recently faced a health scare that sparked rumors of a heart attack. Aasif have clarified that he was suffering from a gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) that is condition where you have a sharp pain as heart attack but it was far dangerous than a heart attack.

This incident occurred when Aasif drove from his hometown Rajasthan to Mumbai

Aasif Khan felt extremely exhausted after his long journey. He suddenly experienced sharp chest pain and fainted in the bathroom. Family members rushed him to the hospital immediately, where the symptoms led many to believe he had suffered a cardiac arrest. “The symptoms felt like a heart attack, but I’m totally fit,” Aasif said in a recent interview.

Doctors diagnosed him with GERD

It is a digestive disorder where stomach acid flows back into the esophagus, causing discomfort and intense chest pain. This condition commonly affects people who eat heavy meals at irregular hours—a habit Aasif admitted to, especially his love for dal baati, which doctors have now advised him to avoid.

After undergoing several tests

Which includes the ECG and blood work, doctors have ruled out any cardiac issues. Doctors discharged Aasif with clear instructions to change his lifestyle. They advised him to follow a healthier diet, exercise regularly, limit animal protein, and avoid eating late at night.

“I don’t think that this incident will affect my work” he added that now he is eager to get back to his work. He have also shared a heartfelt message on Social Media “Life is short, don’t take even one day for granted. Everything can change in a moment. Be grateful for all you have and all that you are,” he wrote.

Medical experts have weighed in

Noting that GERD symptoms often resemble those of a heart attack. Dr. Ranjan Shetty, a cardiologist at Sparsh Hospital, explained that many patients made a mistake acid reflux for the cardiac distress. “Given India’s high risk for the heart disease, it’s always better to seek emergency care when you are in doubt,” he said.
