Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt faced a shocking betrayal when her former personal assistant, Vedika Prakash Shetty, allegedly cheated her out of ₹76.9 lakh. Police arrested Vedika for forging Alia’s signatures and making unauthorized transactions.
The Betrayal Behind the Glamour
Vedika worked closely with Alia and her production house, Eternal Sunshine Pvt Ltd, but she reportedly abused her access to Alia’s finances. Over two years, she allegedly forged Alia’s signatures and diverted funds from both the production company and the actress’s personal account.
The fraud surfaced when Alia’s mother, Soni Razdan, spotted suspicious transactions and immediately alerted Juhu Police, triggering an intense investigation.
A 5-Month Cat-and-Mouse Chase
After the fraud surfaced, Juhu Police registered an FIR under IPC Sections 316(4) and 318(4) for cheating and forgery. As the investigation began, Vedika vanished without a trace.
For five long months, she dodged arrest, reportedly hopping between cities and even adopting false identities to stay hidden. Mumbai Police’s cyber cell tracked her digital footprint to Bengaluru and nabbed her in a late-night operation.
On July 8, the police produced Vedika in court, which sent her into police custody until July 10. Investigators now suspect deeper layers to this scam and are actively probing whether others played a role.
Alia’s Production House Targeted
Vedika didn’t just target Alia’s personal finances-she also siphoned funds from Eternal Sunshine Pvt Ltd, the production house Alia launched in 2021 to create “happy, empowering films.”
The banner’s first project, Darlings (co-produced with Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment), became a massive hit on Netflix. Insiders reveal that Vedika handled backend operations during that time, which gave her access to sensitive financial data.
Bollywood in Shock
The news has left fans, and the film industry stunned. Colleagues describe Vedika as “soft-spoken and extremely professional”- making the betrayal even more unimaginable.
Alia Bhatt and her team have not issued an official statement yet, but sources report that the actress feels “deeply hurt” by the incident and is fully cooperating with the investigation
Alia Focuses on Upcoming Films
Despite the controversy, Alia remains committed to her work. She will next be seen in:
- ‘Alpha’ – Part of the YRF Spy Universe, releasing December 25, 2025.
- ‘Love and War’ – Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
What’s Next? A Plot Twist Awaits
This case has raised many questions about celebrity security and trust. Was Vedika acting alone, or could others be involved? Did Alia’s fame make her an easy target?
As investigators dig deeper, Bollywood is left wondering if this real-life betrayal will one day inspire a reel-life blockbuster.
Will this shocking crime turn into a cautionary tale for the film industry-or a script for Alia’s next hit?
