The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will begin with the host country India playing against with Sri Lanka at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on September 30.
The tournament will follow a hybrid format with this means Pakistan’s matches will be played in Colombo, while other games will happen in India.
In the semifinals, the team that finishes first in the group stage will play against the fourth-placed team, and the second-placed team will face the third-placed team.
During a disagreement over the Champions Trophy and India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan, all sides agreed on a hybrid hosting model. Under this, India was played its matches in Dubai, while the rest of the tournament was held in Lahore and Karachi as per planned.
The ICC said that during the 2024–2027 cycle, any India vs Pakistan matches at ICC events would be held at neutral venues.
Due to political tensions, India and Pakistan have not played bilateral series since 2008. India last visited Pakistan 16 years ago, but Pakistan did come to India for the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
In the 2025 Women’s World Cup, the top four teams from the round-robin stage will move to the semifinals — with 1st place playing 4th, and 2nd playing 3rd.
