In past few weeks

Delhi-NCR has experienced multiple earthquakes recently, including tremors near Jhajjar in Haryana on July 10 and 11 that measured 4.4 and 3.7 in magnitude. Experts identify the region as part of Seismic Zone IV, a high-risk area for earthquakes. This zone covers parts of northern India located near the Himalayan Belt, which ranks among the most active earthquake regions in the world.

Seismologists explain

The Delhi-Haridwar Ridge and other fault lines beneath the region contribute to frequent tremors. These geological features belong to the Indian Plate, which constantly shifts and releases stress, leading to minor earthquakes. Although most of these quakes do not cause damage, they act as warnings about the region’s vulnerability.
