Jhalawar, Rajasthan – July 25, 2025 A heartbreaking incident unfolded in the Piplod village of Jhalawar district, Rajasthan, when the roof of a government school collapsed during the morning hours, killing at least four students and injuring several others. The accident have occurred at the Government Upper Primary School in Manoharthana block while all the children were gathering for their morning prayers.
According to local police officials
Around 27 students were present in the building when the roof gave way. The collapse have affected the classrooms for grades 6 and 7. Rescue teams, along with the villagers and teachers, rushed to the site and began pulling the children out from under the debris using the JCB machines and other equipment.
Injured seventeen students
Medical personnel referred ten of the injured students to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment. Among them, three to four children are said to be in the critical condition. The injured children are receiving care at the Manohar Thana Community Health Centre and other facilities in Jhalawar.
Rajasthan’s Education Minister
Madan Dilawar have expressed his deep sorrow over the tragedy and assured that the government would cover all the medical expenses for the injured. He have also announced a high-level of inquiry to investigate the cause of the collapse and also ensure the accountability. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma have also conveyed condolences to the families of the victims and have directed the officials to provide the best possible care to the injured.
Heavy rainfall in the region
Over the past few days may have weakened the structure, though officials have not confirmed for the exact reason of the collapse. Structural engineers will inspect the site and assess the safety of all other buildings in the area.

He have also reacted to the incident, calling it a “heart-wrenching” and urging the authorities to take a swift action to prevent such tragedies in the future.
