AAIB (Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau)
GVG Yugandhar, the head of AAIB (Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau), is now getting X category security from CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force). This happened because he is leading the investigation of a serious plane crash in Ahmedabad, Flight AI-171.
The crash was very big, and basically, many people lost their lives. It was a flight going from Ahmedabad to London. The crash took place on 12 June 2025, and around 260 to 270 passengers died. This made the case very sensitive and important.
Why Does He Need Security ?
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) looked at reports from intelligence agencies. These agencies said that Yugandhar might be in danger because he is handling very sensitive information related to the crash. Based on this report, the MHA decided to give him X category security.
After the crash, the team found the black boxes of the plane. These include the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and the Flight Data Recorder (FDR). The CVR records the voices and sounds in the cockpit, and the FDR records all flight data like speed and height. These two black boxes are very important for understanding what went wrong with the flight.
Crash, Investigation, and Now Security-What’s Happening With the AAIB Chief?
The security he is getting is called X category security. This is the basic level of VIP protection in India. In this security, 1 or 2 armed CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) guards will always stay with him – at his home, office, and even during travel. These guards are trained and come from CRPF. It may not be the highest level of protection( security cover like Z or Y category ), but it is enough to make sure he stays safe while doing his work.
It is also true that some people may not want the truth to come out. There may be pressure on the investigation team. That is why the Intelligence Bureau (IB) gave a report to the Home Ministry, saying that Yugandhar may be under threat. So, the Ministry of Home Affairs decided to give him security.
This decision shows that the government wants the investigation to be fair and safe. It also shows support for honest officers who are doing their duty. Yugandhar’s work is very important, and he must do it without fear or pressure.
AI-171 Black Box transported to Delhi for analysis
The AAIB (Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau) team sent these black boxes to Delhi for analysis. The checking of this data started around 24 to 25 June, at the AAIB laboratory Delhi, along with some international teams, are now trying to find out the reason for the crash. The black boxes were transported to Delhi, where experts are now checking the recordings and data. This work is very important because it can show if there was a technical fault, a human error, or something else that caused the crash.
This decision shows that the government wants the investigation to be fair and safe. It also shows support for honest officers who are doing their duty. GVG Yugandhar’s work is very important, and he must do it without fear or pressure.
Basically, this security will help him continue the investigation smoothly. People who lost their loved ones in the crash are waiting for answers. They want justice and truth. This step gives them hope that the truth will come out, and safety rules will improve in the future.
