PLI-Auto Scheme Attracts ₹29,576 Cr Investment, Creates 45,000 Jobs: Kumaraswamy

Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel, H. D. Kumaraswamy, said on Thursday that the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for the auto and auto parts sector has brought in ₹29,576 crore in investments and created over 44,987 jobs as of March 2025, according to a PTI report.

He also assured that the government will speed up the release of incentives to eligible companies, reinforcing its commitment to building a self-reliant and globally competitive auto industry.

Kumaraswamy Highlights ₹29,576 Cr Investment, 45,000 Jobs Under PLI-Auto Scheme

Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy, in a post on social media platform X, said he had chaired a review meeting on the PLI-Auto Scheme with the senior officials from the Ministry of Heavy Industries.

He shared that, under the guidance of PM Narendra Modi’s vision, the scheme has been attracted ₹29,576 crore in the domestic investments and has created over 44,987 jobs across the automotive sector as of March 2025.

PLI-Auto Scheme: Driving Advanced Manufacturing and Clean Mobility in India

The PLI-Auto Scheme, launched with the total budget of ₹25,938 crore for the period FY23 to FY27, aims to boost domestic production of advanced automotive technologies in India.

According to the Ministry of Heavy Industries, in FY 2024-25, four companies had submitted claims under the scheme, and a total of ₹322.01 crore was also disbursed as incentives.

The ministry said it is committed to:

  • Holding regular industry workshops
  • Speeding up incentive disbursals
  • Providing strong support to stakeholders

The scheme is divided into two parts:

  1. Champion OEM Incentive Scheme – for vehicle manufacturers
  2. Component Champion Incentive Scheme – for parts and technology suppliers

Both sub-schemes focus on increasing domestic value addition and helping India become a key player in the global automotive supply chain.

The PLI-Auto Scheme is also a key part of the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) vision, aiming to make the country a global hub for clean, future-ready mobility solutions.
