Box Office Queen: In the newest dinosaur movie, Scarlett Johansson takes over the lead role from Chris Pratt, playing Zora Bennett, a former military officer. The story takes place after the events of Jurassic World, with Zora sent on a dangerous mission to one of the last islands where dinosaurs still live.
The movie has had a strong start at the box office, earning $318 million worldwide in just six days. It’s currently the second highest-grossing film of 2025, just behind the Chinese animated movie Ne Zha 2.
According to the box office site The Numbers were the big opening helped with push Scarlett’s total career box office earnings to $14.8 billion. Most of that success—around $8.7 billion—comes from her role as Black Widow in the Marvel movies, especially the four Avengers films and in Captain America: Civil War.

At 40 years old, Scarlett is now the highest-grossing actor in the world, beating past leaders like Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Downey Jr., who also became famous through Marvel films. Tom Hanks and Chris Pratt were also round out the top five.
What’s impressive is that Scarlett reached the top with just 36 leading roles and also compared with Samuel L. Jackson’s 71 and RDJ’s 45. This shows were not only the power of the big franchises she’s been part of, but also her strong popularity across different types of movies.
