The trailer of Jailer 2, released on Monday evening, has set off exactly the kind of frenzy its makers would have wanted — and at the centre of it is a one-second mystery. Fans were quick to spot a shadowy silhouette in the promo that looked unmistakably like Hrithik Roshan, and within hours, social media was flooded with a single question: is Hrithik really in Jailer 2?
The answer, it turns out, is yes. Hrithik Roshan’s body double and stunt master Mansoor Ali Khan cleared the mystery with an Instagram story — the look he shared matches the silhouette seen in the trailer, confirming that the Bollywood star is indeed part of the film. The makers themselves have not officially revealed anything about his appearance, and the trailer keeps him hidden, but the confirmation has only amplified the buzz around what is reportedly a larger-than-life cameo.
According to production sources, director Nelson Dilipkumar has designed a grand introductory sequence for Hrithik leading into a combination scene with Rajinikanth — described as one of the major highlights of the film. The shoot was wrapped under tight security, with a no-phone policy on set to avoid leaks. The cameo is said to arrive at a key juncture and play a significant part in taking the story forward.

The trailer itself keeps the plot under wraps, in classic Nelson fashion. Rajinikanth returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian — now living quietly as a driver, hiding his past, until provocation unleashes his fury. The promo leans on his aura, sharp humour and Anirudh Ravichander’s score, with S J Suryah, Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar stealing scenes alongside him. Vidya Balan, Ramya Krishnan, Anna Rajan, Jatin Sarna, Mithun Chakraborty and Jackie Shroff round out a sprawling pan-India cast.
The reunion carries a nostalgic charge: Hrithik and Rajinikanth previously shared the screen in the 1986 film Bhagwaan Dada, where Hrithik appeared as a child artist — his first-ever co-star, as he has often noted. Reports from the set describe an emotional atmosphere, with Hrithik seeking the superstar’s blessings on arrival.
Jailer 2, the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer, releases worldwide in theatres on October 15. With the trailer landing well and the Hrithik mystery now confirmed, expectations are at an all-time high — the only question left is when Nelson officially unveils the cameo.
