Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched the 2026 Glanza facelift in India today, Wednesday, October 14, 2026, firing a fresh salvo in the premium hatchback segment roughly a month after the updated Maruti Baleno hit the market. The refreshed Glanza brings revised styling, a meaningful technology upgrade and a new engine — the most significant overhaul of the badge-engineered hatchback in its current lifecycle.

Visually, the facelift is anchored by a revised grille and bumper treatment, with the Toyota badge relocated to the bonnet edge — a subtle but distinctive change that distances the car from its predecessor. The sharper front-end design gives the Glanza a more contemporary face, aligning it with Toyota’s evolving design language while keeping the familiar silhouette that buyers in this segment trust.

The biggest news, however, sits inside the car and under the bonnet. The 2026 Glanza is expected to get Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) — a headline feature that would place it among the best-equipped cars in its class. For a premium hatchback competing in a segment where buyers are increasingly asking for driver-assistance features, ADAS could prove to be the decisive differentiator against rivals.

The cabin also gets a notable comfort and connectivity upgrade. Ventilated front seats are expected to make their debut on the Glanza, a feature Indian summers make almost a necessity and one that has been trickling down from higher segments. Alongside them, cooled wireless charging and a 9-inch touchscreen round out a package aimed squarely at feature-conscious buyers who benchmark every car in this price band against the others.

Under the bonnet, the facelift debuts the new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine, producing approximately 82–83 bhp and 112 Nm of torque. The unit is expected to be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox and an automated manual transmission (AMT), catering to both traditional buyers and those who prefer the convenience of a two-pedal setup in city traffic. A CNG variant is also expected, which would keep the Glanza competitive among fleet buyers and cost-conscious commuters who prioritise running costs.

The timing of the launch is telling. By following the updated Baleno by about a month, Toyota is signalling that the Glanza will not cede ground in a segment that both cars have dominated for years. The two models share their mechanical DNA — the Glanza has long been the Toyota-badged counterpart of the Baleno — but Toyota’s pitch has always rested on its dealer experience, warranty confidence and brand trust.

The inclusion of Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats and the new Z12E engine suggests Toyota is betting that buyers will now pay a premium for technology and comfort rather than just reliability and fuel economy. If the facelift lands at a competitive price, the Glanza could tighten Toyota’s grip on a segment that remains one of the highest-volume battlegrounds in Indian motoring.

Full variant-wise pricing and feature details are being confirmed at the launch event today, and thefmnews will update this story as the official announcements come in.
