President Trump signed the law on Friday (July 5, 2025). It includes tax cuts and reduced government spending. The law passed with strong support from the Republicans in Congress and is seen as a key part of Trump’s second-term plans.
Surrounded by Republican lawmakers and his Cabinet, Trump signed the multi-trillion-dollar bill outside the White House. After signing, he used a gavel—gifted by House Speaker Mike Johnson—to mark the moment. The same gavel was used when the bill was approved in Congress the day before.
Despite the odds, President Donald Trump managed to pass a major — and controversial — law just in time to celebrate it on the Fourth of July.
As fighter jets and a stealth bomber flew overhead during the annual White House Independence Day picnic, Trump and First Lady Melania Trump stepped out onto the White House balcony.
Big, Beautiful Bill: “America is winning like never before,” Trump said, referring to the recent bombing campaign against Iran’s nuclear program, which he said the flyover was meant to honor. “Promises made the promises kept — and we’ve to kept them.”
The White House was beautifully decorated in red, white and blue for the usual Fourth of July celebrations. The U.S. Marine Band played patriotic music, along with some classic 1980s pop songs by Chaka Khan and Huey Lewis — a typical Trump-style twist.
There were two flyovers — one before and one after Trump’s speech — with the national anthem played in between.
However, Democrats strongly criticized the bill, calling it a gift to the wealthy that could take away health care, food aid, and financial support from millions of the low-income Americans.
