Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has turned its opening day into a box-office event three days before release. The film has crossed Rs 37 crore in advance bookings in India, with over 8.5 lakh tickets sold including blocked seats, ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on 5 November.
According to Sacnilk data cited in trade reports, as of 9:30 pm on 1 November the film had recorded ticket sales worth Rs 24.15 crore for its opening day including blocked seats, and Rs 20.32 crore excluding blocked seats. Across the first two days, the combined advance collection reached Rs 37.10 crore, or Rs 30.24 crore without blocked seats, with around 24,793 shows listed and reported occupancy of approximately 16 per cent.
The national multiplex chains are driving the momentum. Ramayana has raced past 1.70 lakh tickets in PVR INOX and Cinepolis combined — around 1.40 lakh at PVR INOX and 30,000 at Cinepolis — putting it ahead of Border 2, which closed its advance sales at around 1.45 lakh tickets, and comfortably above Mirzapur: The Movie, Awarapan 2, Bhooth Bangla, Cocktail 2 and Welcome To The Jungle. Trade watchers say the film is almost certain to cross 5 lakh tickets in national chains for day one.
The overseas response has been equally strong. Pre-sales in North America crossed $1 million by 31 October — more than Rs 9.49 crore — with the US share alone at $944,863 from 43,666 tickets across 860 locations. Across other international markets, advance ticket sales reportedly reached $3.5 million, or approximately Rs 33.22 crore. The film’s premiere at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on 27 October helped build that momentum.
Ramayana: Part One stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. Directed by Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the two-part mythological epic carries music by A R Rahman and a score by Hans Zimmer, and will release in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu and Tamil.
For Ranbir Kapoor, the advance performance already marks the sixth-biggest opening of his career in terms of advance bookings, and the film currently ranks among the highest day-one advance grossers of 2026, behind only Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Drishyam: The Conclusion. With paid previews on 4 November and the Diwali corridor ahead, the film is positioned for one of the biggest non-sequel openings of the year — provided the advance frenzy converts into full houses from Thursday.
