Tuesday, October 6

Vivo’s biggest India event of the year takes place today. The company’s “vivo NEXT 2026” showcase begins at 12 PM, and it is headlined by the India debut of the vivo X Fold6 — the flagship foldable the brand launched in China in June. The event has grown considerably from what was originally expected to be a two-device affair, with the vivo V80 and the vivo S2 FE confirmed on the same stage, and a mixed reality headset teased as a surprise attraction.

The X Fold6’s India arrival was confirmed on October 3, when vivo India posted a video teaser carrying the line, “The next chapter of innovation is ready to unfold.” The clip shows the foldable open in a Nebula Teal finish — a colour that has already generated most of the early buzz. Until that teaser, the October 6 date had been circulating only on tipster accounts, so the company’s post effectively closed the loop.

So what is actually confirmed? Frustratingly little on the India specifics — and that is normal at this stage. Vivo has officially confirmed only the event date and time, the three handsets on stage, and that a mixed reality headset will appear in some capacity. There is no word yet on whether that headset will go on sale in India or simply be showcased.

The hardware picture comes from the China launch. The X Fold6 ships with a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chipset tuned for foldables, a 7,000mAh battery, and a 200MP primary camera in a triple-camera setup. The inner display measures 8.02 inches, the cover screen 6.51 inches, and charging is rated at 80W wired plus 40W wireless. Tipsters point to 12GB RAM with 256GB and 512GB storage options in India, and a second colour, Prism Black, alongside Nebula Teal.

Pricing is the big unknown. In China, the 12GB + 256GB variant launched at CNY 7,999 — but that number is a poor guide to Indian pricing, where taxes, import duties and launch offers typically reshape the math. Vivo has said nothing on the India price, so any rupee figure doing the rounds right now is conversion or speculation. For context, premium book-style foldables in India have generally been positioned well above the one-lakh mark.

The other two devices need no introduction. The vivo V80 brings a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a 7,200mAh battery — the largest ever in a V-series phone — with 90W FlashCharge, Zeiss-branded cameras and OriginOS 7. Leaks suggest a starting price around Rs 63,000. The S2 FE, teased on Flipkart in a green finish with a flat rear panel and square camera island, is tipped to slot into the upper mid-range with a Dimensity 7300e chip and a 1.5K AMOLED display.

The event streams live at noon. Pricing, availability and any India-specific configurations will be confirmed then — and that is the only number worth quoting until vivo says it itself.
