Audi India has launched the third-generation Q3 in India at Rs 51.99 lakh (ex-showroom), marking the start of a product offensive that the German luxury carmaker hopes will reignite its momentum in the country’s fast-growing premium SUV segment. The new Q3 replaces the second-generation model that has been on sale since 2022 and arrives locally assembled from Skoda Auto Volkswagen India’s facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.

Unveiled at an event on Friday, October 16, 2026, the third-generation Q3 carries a sharper design language, a tech-loaded cabin and a significantly more powerful drivetrain than its predecessor. At its heart sits a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 204 PS and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and claims a top speed of 229 kmph — figures that place it firmly among the sportier offerings in its class.

The Q3 will be sold in two variants: Nova, priced at Rs 51.99 lakh, and the top-spec Zenith, whose price is yet to be announced. Positioned between the brand’s entry-level offerings and the larger Q5, the Q3 remains Audi’s most accessible SUV in India and one of its most important volume drivers in the luxury segment.

Speaking at the launch, Balbir Singh Dhillon, Brand Director of Audi India, said the Q3 has had around 26,000 Indian customers since its debut in 2012, making it a cornerstone of the brand’s India story. He added that the launch signals the beginning of an aggressive product offensive, with the A5 sedan and the flagship Q9 SUV slated to follow in the coming months.

The new Q3 enters one of the most fiercely contested corners of the Indian luxury market, where it takes on the BMW X1 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA. Both rivals have seen strong demand in recent years as affluent Indian buyers shift from sedans to compact luxury SUVs. Audi will be counting on the third-generation model’s performance credentials and fresh styling to stand out in that company.

Beyond the product pipeline, the company also outlined plans to strengthen its retail footprint. Audi India’s showroom network, currently at 28 outlets, is set to expand to around 40 by the end of 2027 — a move aimed at reaching buyers in emerging luxury markets beyond the major metros, where demand for premium vehicles has been rising steadily.

Local assembly at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar gives Audi an important pricing lever, and the Rs 51.99 lakh starting price undercuts expectations in some quarters of the market. With a punchy turbo-petrol engine, quattro all-wheel drive and a two-variant strategy that leaves room for a higher-spec model, the new Q3 makes a strong opening gambit. Whether it can convert the segment’s sedan loyalists and X1 intenders will become clear in the coming sales months.
