Oil marketing companies have hiked the price of the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder by ₹62.50 with effect from October 1, 2026, in the monthly price revision, while keeping domestic cooking gas rates unchanged.

With the revision, a 19-kg commercial cylinder will now cost ₹2,810 in Delhi, up from ₹2,747.50 earlier. Prices vary across cities due to local taxes — in some markets the commercial cylinder is now priced at ₹3,004.

The hike comes as a fresh burden for hotels, restaurants, eateries and small commercial establishments that depend on commercial LPG for their daily operations. Industry bodies have often argued that repeated upward revisions in commercial cylinder prices feed directly into food inflation, as businesses pass on the higher fuel cost to consumers.

Domestic LPG — the 14.2-kg cylinder used in households — has been spared in this month’s revision. The price of a domestic cylinder in Delhi continues at ₹853, unchanged since the last revision. For Ujjwala beneficiaries, the effective price remains lower after the targeted subsidy.

Separately, a major compliance change has kicked in for subsidised LPG consumers: from October 1, Aadhaar-based biometric authentication has become mandatory for booking and receiving subsidised LPG refills. The move is aimed at plugging leakages and ensuring subsidies reach only genuine beneficiaries.

Consumers who have not yet linked their Aadhaar or completed e-KYC may face delays in getting refills until they complete the verification. Oil companies and distributors have been running awareness campaigns asking customers to update their details at the earliest.

LPG prices are revised on the first of every month by Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum, based on international benchmark prices of LPG and the rupee-dollar exchange rate. Commercial cylinder prices have seen multiple revisions through 2026, while domestic rates have remained largely stable.

For context, the 19-kg cylinder is the workhorse of commercial kitchens, and even modest hikes add up quickly for businesses that consume several cylinders a month. Eatery owners say the cumulative increase over the past year has squeezed already thin margins, leaving them with little choice but to revise menu prices.

Consumers can check the exact price applicable in their city on the websites or mobile apps of the oil marketing companies, or by contacting their distributor. Those eligible for subsidy are advised to complete their Aadhaar e-KYC at the earliest to avoid any disruption in refills.

With the festive season approaching, the stable domestic price will come as a relief to households, even as commercial users brace for higher kitchen costs in the months ahead.
