MUMBAI: Drishyam: The Conclusion has stormed past the Rs 500-crore mark at the worldwide box office, becoming Ajay Devgn’s first-ever film to enter the elite club. The Abhishek Pathak-directed thriller reached the milestone in just 12 days, according to figures reported on October 13, 2026.

Released on October 2 on the Gandhi Jayanti holiday, the third instalment of the Drishyam franchise has been unstoppable since its opening weekend. The film’s India gross stands at approximately Rs 378-390 crore, while its overseas collections have exceeded Rs 111 crore, taking the combined worldwide total past the half-billion-rupee benchmark.

The achievement is a record on multiple fronts. Drishyam: The Conclusion is now the highest-grossing film of the franchise across all Indian languages, and it is only the second Indian film of 2026 to join the Rs 500-crore club after Dhurandhar: The Revenge. For Devgn, who has headlined Hindi cinema for over three decades, the film has comfortably surpassed his previous biggest hit, Singham Again, which had grossed roughly Rs 372-389 crore.

The box-office run has not been without a wobble. The film recorded a steep 72 per cent drop on its second Monday, a fall that briefly raised questions about whether it could sustain its momentum into the third week. But the sheer scale of the opening-weekend and first-week haul meant the Rs 500-crore target remained well within reach, and the film powered through it before its second full week was done.

Trade watchers credit the film’s success to a combination of factors: the enormous goodwill carried by the Drishyam brand, which has delivered two widely loved chapters before; the festive release timing around Gandhi Jayanti; and the word of mouth around the trilogy’s conclusion, which drew audiences who might otherwise have waited for streaming. Family audiences, in particular, have turned out in large numbers — a segment where the Drishyam films have always over-performed.

The numbers also confirm the continuing appetite for well-made, story-driven thrillers in Indian cinema. At a time when several big-budget spectacles have underperformed, a modestly scaled murder-mystery franchise built on plot twists and emotional stakes has outgrossed almost everything else this year — a talking point that producers across the industry will be studying closely.

The next test for Drishyam: The Conclusion comes this week. From October 15-16, it faces fresh competition from a packed festive slate: Prahaar, the 26/11 prosecutor drama; Nayyi Navelli, Yami Gautam’s horror-comedy; and the massive Jailer 2, which is expected to dominate screens in the south. Whether the film holds its ground in a crowded marketplace will decide how much further its final tally can climb.

For now, though, the headlines belong to Ajay Devgn. After more than 100 films and a career stretching back to 1991, the actor finally has his first Rs 500-crore worldwide grosser — and he did it with a franchise built on brains rather than brawn.
