Diwali week is traditionally the biggest box-office window of the year, but in 2026 the streaming platforms have built a slate to match it. Between 2 and 8 November, Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar, SonyLIV and ZEE5 are dropping a crowded mix of Indian films, returning international series and festive family dramas — enough to fill every evening of the holiday week.
The week’s most talked-about Indian title is Haiwaan, Priyadarshan’s thriller starring Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar, streaming on SonyLIV on 5-6 November (listings differ by a day, so check the platform). An official remake of the 2016 Malayalam hit Oppam, it casts Saif as a visually impaired caretaker who becomes the prime suspect in a murder and must use his remaining senses to identify the real culprit, played by Akshay. The pairing alone has made it the week’s most anticipated streaming premiere.
Netflix’s festive offering is Dilwali Diwali, a family drama directed by Ritesh Menon and starring Mihir Ahuja, Manoj Pahwa and Neelu Kohli, arriving on 5 November. A young man returns home for the festival of lights and collides with generational expectations and unspoken family tensions — familiar territory, but exactly the kind of film Diwali evenings are made for. Netflix also drops the second season of Keira Knightley’s spy thriller Black Doves on 5 November, and the South Korean drama Possible Love on 6 November.
JioHotstar’s headline title is I’m Game, Dulquer Salmaan’s Malayalam action thriller, streaming from 6 November. Salmaan plays Dan John, a fearless gambler whose confidence in luck keeps pulling him into dangerous situations, and the film’s theatrical-style scale has made it one of the week’s most awaited arrivals. Prime Video counters with The Greatest, the Muhammad Ali biographical series, on 4 November, alongside returning favourites.
The international bench is deep too. Netflix opens the week with the adult animated steampunk Western Bass Machina on 3 November, while Owen Wilson returns in Stick season 2 and a new adaptation of Stephen King’s The Institute arrives via MGM+ on Prime Video on 8 November. ZEE5 adds the Tamil drama Meesaya Murukku 2 on 6 November.
With Ramayana opening in cinemas on 5 November as well, Diwali week offers a genuine choice: the epic on the big screen, or a thriller, a family drama and a spy series at home. For viewers staying in, the watchlist practically writes itself — start with Haiwaan, keep Dilwali Diwali for the family evening, and save Black Doves for after the diyas are lit.
